It’s time again for Santa to return to Cedarburg for our very popular Painting with Santa event! Join us on Saturday, December 12th at either 10am or 11am for “Stations to Santa.”
This year we will be hosting the event at the beautifully restored Rivoli Theatre on Washington Avenue. Each child will visit our 6 stations where there will be glass, clay, pottery, temporary tatoos, cookie decorating and a photo with Santa taken by Joy Vertz (award-winning photographer) of Shoot the Moon Photography. Enjoy a holiday classic on the big screen while strolling through each station!
$25 per child
The professional 5×7″ portrait, frame and fired pieces will be available for pick-up at glaze approximately one week following the event.
Registrations can be taken over the phone a credit card or in the studio. Space is limited.
Ho-ho-ho…. hope to see you there!
Reminder: Our annual “Handprint Saturday” will be on November 28th. Stop by glaze anytime during normal business hours (10-6) and create handprint treasures! Utilize our talented staff to complete any detailing, words or embellishing of your pieces at no additional charge or custom fees on this day. There will be several samples and ideas available to get the creative gift-giving started.
Remember.. make it personal!

Wow…is it ever hot! Fortunately it’s “cool” inside of Glaze. Phil installed a new floor/window air conditioner which pushes the hot kiln air straight out the window. Perhaps we are to blame for the heat? j/k
This weekend brings thousands of people to Cedarburg for Strwberry Festival. It’s a very exciting weekend. We try and plan fun projects for people of all ages to complete on the street. This year, I am excited to announce “Fusers”. They are 3″ square pieces of glass which can be decorated using glass “toppings”. We have had a blast creating samples so we are confident our customers will enjoy making them during the festival. The best part it they are only $5.00!!! That is amazing considering it’s fused glass, but we want everyone to be able to experience the fusing process and what better time than during a festival!
Our other super cool street project is going to be “Clay Creations”. They are also only $5.00 on the street. The kids are going to LOVE getting their hands into the clay in order to design a one-of-a-kind piece.
We will continue to offer our traditional thumbprint tiles, tatoos and face painting. The crowd will know you visited Glaze when they see your mardi gras beads. We will be handing them out at the studio!
Our Summer has started off ridiculously amazing with this year’s Glaze Dayz summer camp classes. The class to fill up first was “Little Divas”. I’m thrilled to announce that all three classes filled up the first few days of registration. I’m sorry to announce that we aren’t able to offer more of that class this year. We are, however, working on a similiar class to offer to the waiting list so look for an email on that in July.
Thank-you for your continued support. We look forward to celebrating our 5th Birthday with all of you in August!!! Stay cool.

Who-hoo! I am so super excited that this year’s camp classes are such a big hit! I can’t believe how many people signed up first thing Monday morning when registration began. Thanks everyone for choosing glaze for summer camp classes. We have three classes that are already full. No worries, those same classes are offered 2 other times. Just don’t wait to long!
I returned on Tuesday from a mini convention in Salina, Kansas. Every time I attend these events, I can’t help but walk away with so many great ideas and new projects. My favorite new idea is glass fused letters. I’m sure you noticed the big change in our glass room. This is because glass fusing has become so popular we needed additional room. Now up to six people can do glass all at the same time comfortably. I plan to get fused letter samples done over the weekend so look for them sometime next week.
Feel free to share any comments, suggesstions, or concearns you may have. We are constantly changing and are always open to ideas for improvment. Happy Spring! XO-

It’s going to be a fun week in the Studio. We are offering 4 Spring Break Glaze Dayz classes! This is just a sampling of what we are all going to be doing this summer. Glaze Dayz 2009’s schedule is currently available on our website. There are also brochures available in the studio. Registration begins this coming Monday at 9am. We have had so much fun designing all the classes. I am super excited to be working with all the local businesses in order to offer unique experiences. My staff is set for this summer as well. Several “college kids” are returning for full time hours. I’m thrilled knowing that they look forward to returning to their jobs and the great group of friendships that have developed amongst the staff over the years. My family had a wonderful Easter yesterday and I hope you had a great day also. I am headed to another mini pottery convention in Kansas this coming weekend. There’s always new things to learn and new ideas to share. Check out how we’ve changed up the glass fusing room! It’s all open to walk-ins with room for 6 people to comfortably work on glass at one time. Glass has become so popular. If you haven’t done glass yet, give it a try! It’s so EASY!!!!! Have a great week!! See you Monday at registration.

My family has used that phrase for years indicating the dark, rainy, dreary days that come around every once in awhile here in Wisconsin (j/k). I think by giving it a Disney name, it suddenly becomes like a character we feel sympathy for rather than someone to blame. After all, who would you write to or send an email complaint to regarding the weather? Make the most of it :) I did that today by finishing several projects. It was a great day to just “get things done”.
Glaze Dayz is just around the corner and it’s been so much fun customizing the classes. We are striving to get as much community involvement as possible and therefore have teamed up with several local businesses. I think the summer camp classes this year will be some of the best yet.
The Cedarburg Craft Crawl was a huge success! We sold out and actually had to create a waiting list. We plan to do it again in September and this time host a Birthday theme. Whoo-hoo! Speaking of Birthdays…the Birthday Tree class will wind up this Saturday morning with the finishing touches. How fun to have created a special Birthday Tree to display in your home during celebrations?!
You will find us this Thursday night at the Cedarburg Cultural Center displaying some of our most colorful works of art at Taste Of Cedarburg. It’s a free evening of exploring the many great things Cedarburg has to offer. Hope you can join us.
TTFN…and remember the Glaze Dayz summer camp classes will be posted April 1st, but registration doesn’t begin until Monday, April 20th. That will give you 19 days to figure out how you are going to fit in all in.

The Cedarburg Craft Crawl is 75% full! Yippee. Ladies, you are going to have so much fun. I have really enjoyed talking to you as you have called in or stopped by to register. It’s fun to hear the excitment in your voices about getting together with friends, doing fun projects and then topping it off with a great movie. Remember if the projects of the day don’t work out for your schedule, you can still join us for the movie at the Rivoli. Simply show up before 9:30pm, and don’t forget you are welcome to bring along a beverage if you choose.
Valentine’s Day is tomorrow! It’s not to late to create a one of a kind piece of Lilly Ollo Silver Clay jewelry. Choose to make a pendant and hang it from one of our many new beautiful ribbon cords, or a charm bracelet using your children’s fingerprints. Try your style in designing a ring or even earings. Lilly Ollo can be done for you in a day, so there’s still time to create that gift for someone else or for yourself!
I would like to thank all the wonderful Mom’s from Westlawn who dedicated their time in creating the children’s auction pieces. There are once again some amazing pieces. The children’s art by itself was really great, but then when you designed an entire piece around it…Wow! Thank-you for your donating your talents and time. I hope you”ll agree that it was worth it when you saw your finished work. I’m sure they will raise lots of money for your school tonight!!

There are some exciting things coming up at Glaze. The first is our Birthday Tree class. I am so excited about this one. Imagine setting out a family Birthday Tree each time you celebrate that special day. I plan to write my family member’s birthdays on the miniature ornaments and hang them around the tree. In my house you can never have to much color so I will paint and decorate my tree in bright cheerful colors! You are welcome to tailor your tree to fit your style. it will make a wonderful tradition in our house!
The next event I am looking forward to is the Cedarburg Craft Crawl. Glaze, Giralte Gems and Legacy Scrapbook have teamed up to bring you a fun “crafty” day. Simply visit all three stores between 12-8pm on Feb. 28th. You will be taught a step-by-step project at each location…all having to do with wine:) Then join the entire group for a private showing of “Under The Tuscan Sun” at the Rivoli Theatre in downtown Cedarburg. Because the Theatre has been privately reserved for our group, it’s okay to enjoy your personal beverage choice while watching the movie. I know for me personally, it will be a glass of wine I will have purchased using my Cedar Creek Winery special for this day. Grab some girlfriends and sign yourselves up. It’s only $25, but the package value is over $50!!! There’s always something fun and festive going on!
The final thing I want to mention today is our glass fusing classes. Now that Glaze offers walk-in glass fusing, there has been a decrease in organized glass classes…however; we have had so many requests for the advanced clesses that we are setting up several different class options for Feb./March. They will be posted on our web-site by Friday. Why not come in and CREATE?

The Birthday Tree Class is officially planned. We ironed out the last of the dates so there will be four to choose from. Unfortunately there are only 12 spots so don’t hesitate if you are interested. There really isn’t any way to take on more than 12 unless you bring your own tree :) The email with all the pertinent information will be going out Thursday morning (Jan. 29th), but if you are reading this blog before then you can certainly call the studio and sign up! It’s one of the many benefits of checking out our Glaze blog.
Reminder: Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30pm, Glaze will be hosting a jewelry trunk show for The Finishing Touch. The jewelry is designed and created by artists: Lisa and Hannah Ricke. It’s eye candy for those of us who appreciate unique and trendy beaded jewelry! Stop by anytime during the open house for a glass of Sangria and enjoy viewing the creations of the Ricke gals.

Thanks to the chilly weather and cancelled school, we were fairly busy last weekend. We have been actively surveying our customers on summer Glaze Dayz suggestions. If you have any ideas to share, we are in the process of designing this year’s classes. Here are some thoughts so far…Twilight for the Teenagers, puppy themes, old fashioned toys, movies, biking, Brewers, mini spa, Mom and Me, Harry Potter, and bugs.
Please share with us what your children are really in to this year. We are happy to design classes that kids get excited about. We have already had requests to repeat last year’s Mommy Camps, Webkinz, Pizza Party, Ice-scream, and Candyland.
The final details are being put into place for the Birthday Tree class. Watch for the class posting later this week. Finally, we are one of three businesses participating in a Cedarburg Craft Crawl. The value for this experience is amazing! Create a wine themed craft at each location and then enjoy a private viewing of Under The Tuscan Sun at the Rivoli. All this for only $25 (value $50). Grab some friends and sign up. Stop by the studio or call for more details.

Santa with his elves Isabella, Erin, Andrea & Ellie!
It’s about time I thanked all the Elves for helping out with our second Painting With Santa. We sold out weeks before the event. I wish we had space and time to have accommodated every child/family that wanted to participate. Santa was so sweet to all the kids and our Photographer, Joy, of Shoot The Moon Photography captured brilliant photos of Santa with the children (and even with some parents :)) It was quite challenging coordinating the location, Santa, photos, glass fused ornaments, and finger print custom frames. We also had an on location event at the same time that took 1/2 our staff to Brown Deer to paint with over 100 kids at a corporate event. All in all I believe it went very well. I had many positive comments. There are a few hiccups to sort out before next year (like 3 Matthews!), but we will do it again so be sure to sign up early!
